The authors writing style is not my cup of tea. When I read a book, I like to get lost in the words and envision what is on the page. I cannot do that with this book. The words did not flow at all. I am so disappointed with this author. I'm not sure what she was trying to accomplish by throwing in so many ridiculously words. And I say ridiculous because there is so many ways to say something simply by saying it. You don't need to ruin a book by using extraordinary words. Use every day language ! I used to read historical romances. So I don't mind reading words I don't use every day. But the author must do it in a way that the reader can easily translate without losing her imagination while reading. The author needs to realize that she doesn't need to impress anybody with her vocabulary. She also needs to learn not to go off on so many tangents What she needs to do is write to her audience. Save your money and skip this book! And I rarely ever write reviews only when I feel it's a definite must.I should also mention that the author writes without any background information. It's like the author expects you to know what's happening in the middle of the scene. You don't understand the characters or what they're trying to accomplish as you're reading it. I am trying so hard to finish this book because I hate not finishing a book I paid for... I honestly think this is going to be my first DNF. So Sad. I wasted my money .

I really enjoyed reading the story of Dorian and Cora from Dorian's point of view this time since I devoured ALL of the books that were from Cora's POV. This book gave a lot of Dorian's past that we didn't know from Cora's books and I liked that, as well as learning some of history behind Dorian and Alys. Looking forward to the next installment in this Series.
Absolutely love the Dorian/Cora story! It is based on a story of a girl who is going to die. If not for the bite of a vampire, she will die. But, not all vampires feel the way Dorian does. I only have a problem with the author getting her books in the time frame she says she will. She is an excellent author though.
What a fantastic start to another amazing series from V.M. Black. I absolutely love Dorian's POV. Don't get me wrong I loved Cora's books but I'm really excited to find out more about Dorian's past before him meeting his salvation in Cora. I'm so excited to see what else this author has in store for Dorian. I can't say enough of V.M. Black she's a brilliant writer and she has an amazing career ahead of her! Keep them coming.
I've read Cora's books and thoroughly enjoyed them. Cora showed her age and inexperience throughout the series and seeing her mature slowly was enlightening. Dorian Thorne was enigmatic, autocratic and aloof. It was really hard to get a good take on him and his actions/reactions to Cora and their bond. Blood Lust was extremely satisfying in that it is the same story but told from his point of view. There's also a significant amount of back story so the reader is much more vested in him at this crucial point in his life. I found this to be extremely gratifying. Looking forward to the next installment.
I'm pretty impressed by the series from Dorian's perspective (in case you don't know, this serial was written from Cora's POV before, which I highly recommend reading first starting with "Life Blood"). I'm normally ambivalent or just pleased with stories written from the "other's" POV, but this really was INTERESTING. It didn't feel at all like a follow along, oh-look-we-have-his-thoughts-too, they're-kinda-what-we-guessed. He was very much his own, stark character with his own, different reactions to things and impressions of her.
And getting glimpses of his back story, as well as what he does when he wasn't with Cora, was very fascinating. I definitely recommend reading this if you're a fan of the Cora's Choice and Cora's Bond serials.
As I read through the other 5-star reviews for this incredible book, I am bursting with excitement that SO many other readers realize the genius that is V. M. Black! Blood Lust is NO exception! Whether you've been following Dorian's story through the Cora books, or this is your first - this book is SO fantastic! Dorian Thorne is so very "swoon-worthy", but this is so much more than your typical billionaire vampire romance. This author excels at transporting you through her imagination, into a world that you never want to leave! I absolutely LOVED learning more about Dorian, both present and past experiences. I am a HUGE fan of the Cora series and can't wait for the next installment into Dorian's world! Bravo, Vicki! They just keep getting better and better!
